Check Out the Before & After Pictures from this Dramatic Main Floor Reno

Increased storage, more seating room and improved flow and functionality were on the kitchen design wish list for these homeowners.

Monarch created an open-concept design that changed the look and feel of this home: view the dramatic difference in the before-and-after pictures below.

BEFORE: A wall separates the small kitchen area from the dining and living room.

“The wall between the family room and kitchen was removed to create a large open plan living space,” explains Monarch designer Shelley Herbert. “We reconfigured the kitchen to accommodate seating for four at the new peninsula.”

BEFORE: The living room and small dining area on the other side of the kitchen wall.
AFTER: With the dividing wall removed, this white kitchen design takes centre stage!

The open-concept design allows for more working counter space and increased storage, including a pots-and-pans drawer and pantry cabinets — with a built-in microwave — by the patio door.

Kitchen Renovation Design Details:

Countertop: LG VIATERRA quartz, in Cotton White

Cabinetry: Miralis Euro-Wrap in Super White, “in a very hard-wearing simple shaker profile that creates an elegant, timeless look — but at a great price point,” says Shelley.

Backsplash:  Sarana Tile, “This long hexagonal tile with a subtle marble finish is a modern twist on a subway tile.”

Flooring (throughout the main floor): Mannington Luxury Vinyl, “an amazing product that’s both waterproof and scratch-resistant.”
